Ride of Silence is tonight

The Cincinnati Cycle Club and Queen City Bike are sponsoring Ride of Silence to honor those cyclists injured or killed while riding. Bike riders are gathering at various spots around the city and converging for silent reflection 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 21 on Fountain Square. The ride is designed to remind those who witness it that cyclists and automobiles share the roadways.

Here are three starting points. Rides depart at 6:30 p.m.

1. Newport High School, 900 E. 6th St.
2. Winton Montessori, 4750 Winton Rd.
3. Intersection of Murray Ave. and Simpson Ave.

MANY THANKS to John Chester, the CCC and all those who put the Ride of Silence together this year. The event was well planned and well attended. I thought the themes of remembering and honoring those killed and injured and publicly confirming our right to use the roads were effectively presented.
