Committee Approves Plan - Council Expected to Pass It Today!

One hundred and nineteen supporters of the City of Cincinnati's Bike Plan converged on City Hall last night to make the case for making this a better city for bicycling at a Special Meeting of the Livable Communities Committee. The temporary bike parking corral in front of City Hall was filled with bikes as most supporters rode to the hearing.

After hearing testimony, all in support, the Committee approved the plan without objection, and it is expected to pass the full Council at their meeting today. This will make it the first update to the City bike plan since the 1970s.

At an earlier meeting yesterday, the Committee also passed an update to City laws concerning bicycles in the City that includes a 3-foot passing rule, a prohibition to parking in bike lanes, and other changes. This ordinance is also expected to be approved by the full Council today or at their next meeting before the summer recess.

A full report on today's Council action with photos from last night's hearing will be posted when they become available.

Thanks to all who attended or wrote letters to make this possible!
