Organized by David “BigDave” Riemenschneider
May is National Bike Month and Bike To Work Week is May 12th through May 16th. Here’s the contest - ride your bike to work as many times as possible in the month of May.
There will be prizes awarded in the following four categories and possibly some specialty awards:- Most bike to work days for the month of May,
- Most bike to work miles for the month of May,
- Most bike to work days during the week of May 10th* through May 16th, and
- Most bike to work miles during the week of May 10th* through may 16th.
* Since I know that not everyone works a 9 to 5 job Monday through Friday, for the sake of this contest, I have extended Bike To Work Week to include the Saturday and Sunday preceding the official week.
There will also be a random drawing of everyone who rides on Bike To Work Day, Friday, May 16th.
Here are the rules:
- Even though our normal Commuter Challenge with the Dayton Cycling Club counts ALL commuter miles, in the spirit of National Bike Month, I will only be interested in your commuter miles to and from work for this contest (please continue to commute for other purposes whenever possible and turn your miles in to Don Burrell each quarter);
- Tie-breakers:
- Other category for the same time period,
- Same category in the other time period
- Other category in the other time period
- OK, it’s a tie. What, are you two on a tandem?
- Mileage and day turn-in procedures:
- Please submit the exact days and mileage for each day you rode your bike to, or from, work by June 3rd so that I am able to list the results in the July BikeWriter;
- Include your name, phone number & e-mail address;
- You will be able to submit your miles at www.queencitybike.com.
